Here’s our honest review, including what the food is like, what age we think it’s best for, what happens on board and everything we’d want to know before booking.
If you have a Peppa Pig fan at home and are looking for a special London day out, the Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour is certainly one to have on your radar.
We recently hopped aboard Brigit’s Bakery’s Peppa Pig bus for 90 minutes of afternoon tea, Peppa Pig entertainment and sightseeing around some of London’s most iconic landmarks.
I went with our three children, aged 2, 5 and 7, and one of the things I was most interested to find out was whether an experience centred around Peppa would really work across those different ages.
The answer? Surprisingly, yes — although for quite different reasons.
What is the Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour?
The experience combines a traditional London sightseeing bus tour with a Peppa Pig-themed afternoon tea.
You travel around central London aboard a brightly decorated double-decker bus while Peppa Pig and Suzy Sheep help introduce some of the landmarks via the screens at each table.
Alongside the sightseeing there are Peppa clips, sing-alongs, games and activities, plus an activity book for the children.
And, of course, there’s afternoon tea.
The whole experience lasts approximately 90 minutes, which for us felt just right. It was long enough to feel like we’d had a proper afternoon out without reaching the point where the children had completely had enough.
What do you see on the Peppa Pig London bus tour?
This was actually one of our favourite parts of the whole experience — and the reason I think the tour works particularly well if you have children of different ages.
The route takes you around some of London’s best-known sights, with Peppa and her friends providing child-friendly commentary about some of the landmarks as you go.
We saw Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, London Bridge and Tower Bridge, amongst plenty of other London sights.
Going over Tower Bridge was a particular highlight for all three children.
Our seven-year-old, Annabelle, is obviously moving beyond the Peppa stage, but she really enjoyed spotting the London landmarks and seeing the city from the bus.
Jemima, who is five, really enjoyed both sides of the experience. She loved the Peppa Pig theme, songs and activities, but she was also old enough to appreciate the excitement of travelling around London on a sightseeing bus and spotting the landmarks along the way.
Meanwhile our two-year-old, Bertie, was much more interested in Peppa, the cakes and everything happening immediately in front of him.
It meant that although they were experiencing exactly the same tour, they each got something quite different from it.
What is the Peppa Pig afternoon tea like?
I was really impressed with the food.
When you board, the afternoon tea stands are already waiting on your table with a mixture of sandwiches, savoury bites and Peppa-themed cakes and sweet treats.
Our children naturally gravitated towards the sweet side rather more enthusiastically than the sandwiches — no surprises there — but everything we tried was lovely.
About halfway through the journey, warm scones are brought around with jam and clotted cream, which is a nice touch and means everything isn’t served at once.
There are drinks for both children and adults, and everyone receives a Peppa Pig travel cup to take home afterwards.
And a tip for the grown-ups: you can upgrade to include a glass of bubbles.
Personally? Worth the upgrade. 🥂
Is there enough to keep children entertained?
There is plenty happening alongside the afternoon tea.
Each table has a screen showing Peppa Pig and Suzy Sheep as they introduce different London landmarks, interspersed with familiar Peppa clips and songs.
There are also activity books for the children, plus onboard entertainment, games and sing-alongs.
For our five and seven-year-olds, the combination of eating, doing their activity books and looking out for the next London landmark kept them entertained throughout.
Jemima particularly enjoyed being able to switch between the Peppa Pig entertainment and the sightseeing. At five, she was still very much engaged with the Peppa theme, but she could also appreciate the experience of being on the bus and seeing London.
With a two-year-old, there’s one thing I would bear in mind.
Is the Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus suitable for a 2-year-old?
The minimum age for the Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour is two, and Bertie genuinely loved it.
He enjoyed the Peppa theme, loved the cakes and was very engaged with what was happening around him.
However, I had wondered beforehand how I was going to keep an active two-year-old sitting down for 90 minutes — and that’s something I think is worth considering before you book.
Once Bertie had finished eating, he naturally wanted to move around a little. Because you’re travelling on a moving bus, children are understandably discouraged from walking around for safety reasons.
Eventually he happily sat on my knee and watched everything going on, so it was absolutely manageable for us and we still had a brilliant time.
But you know your toddler best. If you have a particularly active two-year-old who struggles to stay seated, it’s worth bearing this in mind.
The activity books are useful for filling those moments once the food has lost its appeal, too.
What is the best age for the Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus?
Based on our experience, I’d say ages 2–7 is a great window, but what children enjoy about it changes with age.
For toddlers and younger preschoolers, the Peppa Pig theme is likely to be the main attraction.
For slightly older children, the sightseeing becomes much more interesting.
Our experience was a perfect example: Bertie, at two, was all about Peppa and cake, Jemima, at five, enjoyed both the Peppa Pig entertainment and the excitement of the bus tour, while Annabelle, at seven, loved seeing London and spotting the landmarks.
That makes it a particularly good London activity if you’re trying to find something that siblings of different ages can enjoy together.
Things to know before you go
There are a few practical things I would definitely want to know before booking.
Go to the toilet and do nappy changes before boarding. Brigit’s Bakery advises families to do this before the tour. Emergency toilet/changing facilities are stated as being available for children on the Peppa bus, although we didn’t see or need to use these during our visit.
Be prepared to keep younger children seated. This is a moving sightseeing bus, so children can’t freely wander around. If you’re bringing an active toddler, take the activity book and entertainment into account when deciding whether they’re ready for it.
Buggies need to be folded. We had to fold ours, and belongings need to be stored around your seating area, so I’d travel as lightly as you can.
Arrive in plenty of time. It’s a timed bus tour rather than a restaurant reservation, so this isn’t one to arrive late for.
Allow around 90 minutes. For us, this was pretty much the perfect duration.
Is the Peppa Pig Afternoon Tea Bus Tour worth it?
For us, yes.
It’s undoubtedly a special-occasion London activity rather than an everyday afternoon out, but you’re getting several experiences rolled into one: afternoon tea, a sightseeing tour, Peppa Pig entertainment and activities for the children.
What I particularly liked was that it didn’t rely entirely on your children being Peppa obsessed.
The younger ones can immerse themselves in Peppa, while older children can enjoy the novelty of eating afternoon tea on a bus and seeing some of London’s biggest landmarks. Jemima was a great example of this, as she loved the Peppa Pig theme but also really enjoyed the bus tour itself and seeing the sights.
The food was genuinely lovely, the 90-minute duration felt spot on and we came away feeling like we’d actually seen a little bit of London with a fun element, rather than simply attended another children’s character experience.
